Human/Being (2017)
3-Channel Video Installation, 2 min., loop.
Korean/English; Chinese/English

Imagine a company offering human beings for specific purposes. Assume that these human beings are bioengineered and brought to life by artificial wombs via full ectogenesis. They are created not to question their fate of being made to be partners, companions, friends, children or "assistants" of absolute loyalty and descretion. In animal breeding, non-human animals are engineered by us. For there is no way to ask for their consent, they are not being asked. These dogs and cats, along with other species are altered not for their own good, but for the satisfaction of peoples needs which drive global economies. Selective Breeding is used to optimise the animals for the functions they have to fulfil, eg the protection of commodities, good taste and texture of meat or substitute roles as children, friends and partners.
